Chart Topping!

Well well...

It appears that Atari Pilot's first single, "Game Change", is at number one in the TuneCrank charts! TuneCrank is a great site for musicians to share their music, and allows listeners to rate the songs they listen to on a thumbs up/thumbs down basis. Seems a lot of people are digging the tune!

It's a proud moment for myself and the good Pilot - we've been working hard on the debut album "Navigation Of The World By Sound" for over a year and now it's so close to release, validation like this is such a lovely surprise! If you haven't already, head over to TuneCrank and have a listen, and if you like it click the thumbs up symbol! (If you really like it, click the metal horns symbol to the left of that!)

More to come on the impending release of the record soon.

Matthew Kilford 'Funeral Circus EP'

It's out today, and it's a blinder! Three tracks recorded to 8-track tape by Simon Law, mixed here at The Cellar and mastered by Stu Rowe. Please go check it out at www.matthewkilford.co.uk and buy it - you wont regret it. Here's a cut from the EP, 'Fire On My Shoulder'. Hope you enjoy enough to support Matthew's work! If you want to buy, he's on iTunes but also Bandcamp (which is preferable due to better quality downloads and the artist getting more of the dosh!) or there's a limited run of CDs out too.

Fire On My Shoulders - Matthew Kilford

Full Steam Ahead!

Crikey

It's been a busy old time at The Cellar in the last few weeks. I've had a bit of a reshuffle, gear-wise: sold some old stuff and got new things: A beautiful vintage Sennheiser MD441 (What a mic! Every studio needs at least one of these), a great stereo compressor by ART (Pro VLA II) and more importantly - new monitors. I've upgraded to a pair of Adam A7's, and it's like someone has lifted a wool blanket from my mixes. These things are incredible for the money you can get them for these days.

It's also a time of transition musically - A few long-standing projects drawing to a close. Black Sheep Apprentice album is nearing completion, and we're almost 93% through "Navigation Of The World By Sound", Atari Pilot's debut long-player. It's shaping up to be a complete belter of a record - we took the mixes to Stuart Rowe for a pre-mastering listen and it was all good news. Bateleurs' record is fixing up very nicely too, and it's such a pleasure as always to work with those guys.
New stuff on the horizon: Just mastered 3rd Storey Chemist's new EP - sounds PHAT (yeah I went there!). Got an EP coming up with Mike Oliver, which I'm really pumped for. A trans-continental collaborative project with Swindon's own Mr. Stonepoem is also in the pipeline, plus I am looking forward to the prospect of actually GETTING OUT AND PLAYING LIVE at a few festivals this summer!

One last thing - Matthew Kilford's "Funeral Circus" EP is out this Friday, after a spot of dithering (Matt you know what I'm talking about ;)). it was recorded to 8-track tape by the fantastic Simon Law, and then digitally mangled- SORRY, mixed here in the Cellar. It's a piece of rare beauty and I think if you have two ears on the side of your noggin and a beating heart you need to do Matt a favour and buy it as soon as it drops. You won't regret it.

As always, I'm on the lookout for more great artists to record with, so please recommend me to your pals.
